KK Dampens KCR Spirits

At a time when Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao is strongly nurturing ambition of becoming the first Chief Minister of Telangana State, his party’s secretary general K Keshav Rao dampened his spirits by saying that the TRS had not set aside the issue of making Dalit as the first CM.

Speaking at a program “Vision of Telangana - Meet-the-Media” here on Tuesday, KK said the TRS chief had announced that he would install a Dalit leader as Chief Minister when Statehood was given to Telangana region.

“But we are not going away from this promise”, he maintained. KK’s remarks assume significance in the wake of KCR’s reluctance to offer chief minister post to a Dalit leader. Instead KCR himself wants to be in that post.

KK also indirectly opposed KCR’s decision to join the Third Front, rather than the NDA or the UPA. He reiterated that the TRS had not yet taken any decision to whom to support at the national level. “Anything is possible after the elections,” he said.
