KCR upset with leakage of Secretariat design?

The disclosure of design of the proposed new Secretariat building of Telangana by Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao has drawn a lot of criticism from various quarters.

The design of building, proposed to be constructed at the Bison Polo Grounds, Secunderabad at a cost of Rs 300 crore, resembles an ancient structure of Chicago in the USA and has no resemblances whatsoever with the local culture.

It is more of a fancy structure to appease the taste of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, rather than a practical design with modern outlook and requirements.

Already, KCR is under attack for encouraging Nizam style architecture, as was evident from his own camp office at Begumpet.

Several social organisations and the opposition parties are making a hue and cry against the new proposed secretariat, stating that it would cost an additional burden on public money.

Sources said though KCR approved the design, he wanted to keep it a secret for fear of criticism.

So, when Tummala released the design to the media, KCR was said to be terribly upset and in fact, angry with the minister for not taking his permission before disclosing it in the media. Apparently, he wanted to make some more modifications in the design.
