KCR changes tune on Tollywood drug links!

Telangana CM KCR, who thought of pacifying the agitated Telugu film industry by saying that the film personalities being interrogated by the Special Investigation Team of the excise and prohibition department were not the accused in the drug peddling case but were only the victims, had to take back his words hurriedly.

KCR, who held a review of the ongoing investigation into the drug racket, made it clear that the intention of the drive was not to target the film industry but to make the state drug-free.

He said all those who were questioned were not the accused but only the victims.

“There is absolutely no threat to the film industry,” he clarified.

However, within hours, there was a press release from the chief minister’s office asking the media to delete the paragraph in which he declared the film personalities as only victims and not the accused.

Apparently, the SIT officials brought to his notice that his statement would only dilute the investigation and the government would become a laughing stock in the eyes of the public.

In fact, within minutes of KCR issuing the first statement, director Ram Gopal Varma ridiculed the investigation by the SIT.

“When the government itself has admitted that the film personalities are not the accused but only victims, the so-called interrogation by the SIT has turned out be mere drama. The media show all these days has ended up as a mere flop show,” he commented.

The officials reportedly told the chief minister that there were concrete evidences of the film personalities having links with drug peddlers. So, such a statement from the chief minister would affect the morale of the SIT, they said.

So, KCR had to change his tune!
