Jagan to revive special category status demand?

Jagan to revive special category status demand?

It looks like YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to revive the demand for achieving special category status to Andhra Pradesh as part of his marathon padayatra beginning November 2.

Jagan, who had raised an aggressive pitch for special category status to AP till a few months ago, conveniently put it on the backburner after he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He did not raise the issue during the by-elections to Nandyal assembly seat and Kakinada Municipal Corporation polls.

Now, he seems to have realised that there was a need for emotional issue to rake up during the elections and there is no better issue than the special category status. So, he wants to make the best use of it during his proposed padayatra.

As a precursor to his padayatra, Jagan will address a massive Yuve Bheri programme at Anantapur on October 10, where he will once again raised the issue of achieving special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

He would tell the people that only the special status could bring in development in the state, sources said.
