Exclusive: Who is controlling YSRC now?

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is working tremendously hard to bring the party to power. He is leaving no stone unturned in taking up every issue concerning people and fighting against the government both inside and outside the assembly.

Yet, his efforts are not being translated into votes, as was evident from the outcome of the Nandyal by-elections and Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections.

What is shocking is that the party could not even give a tough fight to the ruling Telugu Desam Party, as it lost both the elections with huge margins. This is despite the fact that Jagan has hired a seasoned political strategist Prashant Kishor.

So, what has gone wrong with the party? According to analysts, one of the main reasons for the poor show by YSRC is that the party is under the virtual control of political novices – Jagan’s wife Y S Bharati and her cousin Divya Reddy.

Since Jagan is focussed mostly on attracting the people, the political action plan is being chalked out by Bharati with the support of Divya Reddy, who is presently heading the digital team of Sakshi media house.

Their influence on Jagan and the party is so much that even Prashant Kishor and his team have been asked to report to Bharati and Divya Reddy.

During the recent Nandyal elections, the Kishor team had to go only by the directions of these two women, besides another relative Rajasekhar Reddy, an NRI. But their strategy totally boomeranged and Prashant is now saying that he had not played any independent role in Nandyal elections and everything was monitored by Divya Reddy team.

Sources in the Sakshi media house say Divya Reddy has virtually screwed up the digital media network and there is absolutely no innovation in the website. And the English version of Sakshi is totally a disaster. Because of her, several bright journalists have left Sakshi in the recent times. Yet, Divya is calling shots both in the media as well as party!

It is better Jagan wakes up and revamp the whole political network before the 2019 elections.
