DLR Back In News, To Join TDP?

DLR Back In News, To Join TDP?

It has been a very long time since one has heard about former minister D L Ravindra Reddy, once a powerful leader in Kadapa district. After the Congress lost its ground in Andhra Pradesh following the bifurcation of combined state, DLR has virtually gone into oblivion.

The latest news is that the former minister is likely to join the ruling Telugu Desam Party. It is learnt TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given him green signal to join the party. In all probability, he would be fielded from his own constituency Mydukuru in the next elections.

However, the TDP has already appointed senior TDP leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav as the party in-charge of Mydukuru. So, if DLR joins the TDP, Yadav will lose the chance to become the MLA. So, Naidu is learnt to have offered TTD Chairman post to Yadav in lieu of the MLA ticket.

“Yadav, while expressing happy to become the TTD chief, also wanted Mydukuru seat. But Naidu asked him to choose between the two. That was the reason for delay in announcing Yadav’s name for the TTD chairman post,” sources said.

Ravindra Reddy extended support to Yadav who contested in the last elections. However, Yadav lost following which they parted ways.

Interestingly, Ravindra Reddy was till recently critical of the TDP policies and even expressed wish to join the YSR Congress Party.

He even supported the candidature of YS Vivekanand Reddy, uncle of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the MLC elections. But after Viveka lost the polls, DLR again moved away from the YSRC.

Now, suddenly, he seemed to have developed second thoughts and is getting ready to join the ruling party.
