Brass Workshop Inspired Famous Devatha Song

Brass Workshop Inspired Famous Devatha Song

Just about everyone who knows Raghavendra Rao will know the immensely popular ‘Velluvoche Godaramma… vellakilla paddanamma…’ song from Devatha.

Apparently, the unit had the song ready and since the song had Godavari in it, the unit was based on the banks of Godavari. But the director Raghavendra Rao was trying to figure out how to make the song extra special. After all, he was expected to do something new.

At that time, he happened to have heard the sounds from a brass workshop next to his lodge in Rajahmundry. That was when the idea of putting up many brass pots all over in the background struck him.

Well, as they say, what happened next is history. Since Sridevi and Sobhan Babu were ready, Raghavendra Rao quickly got his team to set up the brass pots and they canned the song.

Great directors get inspired by little, every day things and Raghavendra Rao is certainly no exception.
