A Hyderabad businessman and his wife, who travelled to Switzerland for a holiday nearly three weeks ago, have been reported missing, even as police examine allegations that they may have left the country after collecting crores of rupees from investors.
The missing couple has been identified as businessman Pabba Chandrasekhar, 51, and his wife Swapna, 42.
According to their daughter Shreya, the couple left for Switzerland on June 22. They remained in contact with family members for some time but suddenly stopped communicating after July 8.
Repeated calls from relatives reportedly went unanswered, with both phones either switched off or out of network coverage.
Worried over their sudden disappearance, Shreya, a 23-year-old software professional, approached the police. A missing persons case was then registered and an investigation was launched.
Police are now checking the couple’s travel plans, immigration details and financial transactions to establish whether they actually entered Switzerland and to trace their present location.
Investigators are also looking into claims that Chandrasekhar and his wife collected nearly ₹50 crore from more than 60 people over the past few years.
The money was allegedly taken with promises of attractive returns and for various personal and business purposes.
However, police have not yet announced any formal cheating case against the couple.
Officials said the investigation is still at an early stage and all possibilities are being examined, including voluntary disappearance and possible financial fraud.
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the couple’s movements or whereabouts to come forward.
