The latest political developments in Telangana involving Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan have triggered speculation in political circles over whether his activities are aimed at benefiting the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and targeting the ruling Congress.
His visit to Warangal on Wednesday, where he met a 17-year-old boy suffering from a life-threatening hereditary disease and offered prayers at the famous Bhadrakali Temple, is being viewed by some as part of a calculated political strategy with a long-term objective.
Political analysts believe that Pawan Kalyan is attempting to rebuild his presence in Telangana through humanitarian engagements after facing resistance to his earlier political activities in the state.
“Given his past statements on Telangana, including his remarks on state bifurcation and regional politics, it is unlikely that people will be easily influenced by such moves,” an analyst said.
However, some analysts argue that the Jana Sena chief’s outreach in Telangana could be part of a broader political strategy involving opposition forces.
“His frequent visits to Telangana and efforts to expand Jana Sena’s presence in the state could indirectly help the BRS, which is reportedly keen to move closer to the BJP ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections,” the analyst said.
He recalled that Pawan Kalyan had earlier appeared to give a clean chit to the BRS government by stating that neither he nor Andhra leaders had faced attacks during K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decade-long rule.
Pawan had alleged that systematic attacks on Andhra people had taken place only during the Congress government’s last 30 months in office.
The analyst also pointed out that BRS leaders had not strongly criticised Pawan Kalyan over his recent remarks.
“This could indicate a broader political strategy aimed at weakening the Congress government in the coming days,” he added.
