A recent blockbuster, which hit theatres two months ago, reportedly earned its lead hero a profit of nearly Rs 40 crore to Rs 50 crore.
The actor himself did not expect such a windfall, especially after struggling to score a hit for some time. Most of his previous films had incurred heavy losses for producers, forcing him to slash his remuneration.
However, the blockbuster success appears to have changed his fortunes and market expectations.
The actor reportedly walked out of a film he was supposed to do for a popular producer after the latter was unwilling to meet his hefty remuneration demand.
The producer, however, had not ruled out the possibility of increasing his paycheck. But before further discussions could take place, the star went ahead and signed another film with a newly relaunched production banner run by two partners. The new producers reportedly agreed to all his demands.
This has left the senior producer sulking. He reportedly feels that the actor should have allowed room for discussions on remuneration, business prospects and budget instead of making a quick decision based purely on money.
For the veteran producer, it is not just about the film falling through. He is said to be disappointed that the actor chose a bigger paycheck over an established professional relationship.
The star has now begun filming for the new project, and there is no clarity on whether he will ever return to the senior producer’s film.
