Why Prabhas’ Net Worth Is Missing From Richest Actors Lists

Over the past few years, national media outlets have published estimates of the net worth of several Indian film stars, including Telugu actors.

While names such as Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan frequently feature on these lists, Prabhas, despite being one of the biggest stars in the country, is often missing from the top rankings.

Rajinikanth’s case is somewhat different, as reports have suggested that several of his properties and assets are held in the names of his wife and daughters. As a result, the assets directly attributed to him may not fully reflect his family’s overall wealth.

Prabhas’ case has also raised questions. He has reportedly been commanding remuneration of around Rs 150 crore per film since “Saaho”. Since then, he has had six releases, which, based on these reported figures, would put his earnings from film remuneration alone at nearly Rs 900 crore.

He currently has three major projects in production – “Spirit”, “Fauji” and “Kalki 2”. If the reported remuneration for these films is also taken into account, his total earnings from film projects could rise to around Rs 1,400 crore.

Apart from his film earnings, Prabhas is also known to own properties in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Bhimavaram. Yet, his name does not regularly appear among the wealthiest actors in national media rankings.

One explanation doing the rounds is that a substantial portion of his earnings goes towards family expenses and other commitments.

There have also been reports that he has helped clear family debts. His personal expenses and tax liabilities would further reduce the amount that ultimately contributes to his net worth.

Ultimately, film remuneration and net worth are two very different things. A star can earn hundreds of crores from films without that entire amount translating into personal wealth.

Net-worth estimates also depend on assets, liabilities, taxes, investments and how properties are legally held.

Unless Prabhas’ complete financial details are publicly available, any estimate of his net worth remains speculative.
