The shocking attack on a Class 10 girl at a government school in Raptadu, Andhra Pradesh, has triggered widespread outrage.
A 21-year-old man allegedly attacked the student with an electric chainsaw, raising serious concerns about the safety of children in schools.
While netizens are demanding strict action against the accused, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has unexpectedly become a topic of discussion on Telugu social media.
Several social media users are drawing comparisons with a scene from Vanga’s blockbuster Animal, in which Ranbir Kapoor enters a school classroom carrying a loaded gun.
The scene, which attracted considerable attention during the film’s release, is now being discussed in the context of the Raptadu incident.
Some netizens argue that filmmakers should be more responsible while depicting extreme violence, particularly in educational institutions. They feel that presenting dangerous weapons and violent behaviour as heroic could send the wrong message to audiences.
However, the criticism is not limited to Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Other directors who glorify violence on screen are also facing similar questions.
Reacting to the debate, a director said filmmakers should exercise caution while presenting violent scenes.
“We cannot directly blame Sandeep Reddy Vanga for such a horrific incident. However, filmmakers need to be careful about the scenes they include in their films. Directors should find alternative ways to establish a hero’s image rather than making violence look too realistic,” he said.
At the same time, blaming cinema alone for such crimes would be unfair.
There is no confirmed evidence linking the Raptadu attack to Animal or any other film. The accused’s motive and the circumstances behind the attack are matters for police investigation.
Nevertheless, the incident has reignited a long-standing debate about the influence of cinema on society.
While filmmakers have creative freedom, the question remains: Should they exercise greater responsibility when portraying extreme violence, especially in settings involving children?

Telugu(s) doesn’t know how to live independently, with own intelligence or own hardwork. Always asking – who is your MLA ? who is your MP ? from school they support their own caste person (even though he/she is bad /corrupt).
Non Sense. Telugu people are crazy behind their caste people, crime , bribe – BY default.
Own caste person may bang their AShSu , still ok for them.
