The shocking incident of sexual abuse of a 13-year old student at Veda Patashala in Dharmagiri on the most pious Tirumala Hills has made one wonder whether the students are going there to learn Vedas or sex.
According to reports coming from Tirupati, the Veda Patasala has become an adda for sex maniacs. A few teachers are allegedly engaging a group of senior students and indulging in homo sexual acts with juniors. The senior students regularly go to Tirupati town, get porn CDs for the teachers and force the juniors to watch them along with them, before participating in the sexual acts.
The victim from Hyderabad told the police that several juniors were subject to sexual abuse, but they were scared to reveal these dirty acts as they were threatened with dire consequences.
Shockingly, the TTD officials kept the whole issue a secret affair, though they received complaints long ago. They tried to hush up the case by rusticating four accused senior students and sending them out of the institution.
And TTD EO I Y R Krishna Rao defended himself saying he did not reveal all this because it would bring bad name to the religious institution! The State Human Rights Commission on Thursday took suo motu cognizance of it and issued notices to the TTD officials, the state government and the local police seeking a comprehensive report by June 27.
