KCR's Kerala visit: political or personal?

KCR's Kerala visit: political or personal?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday left for a five-day visit to Kerala, triggering speculations over his attempts to revive the federal front of regional parties that is expected to play a bigger role at the national level after the general election results on May 23.

It is speculated in the political and media circles that KCR is planning to rope the Left parties also into his federal front since the CPI and the CPI (M) were also against both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. So, as part of his efforts, he is going to meet Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

An official release from the chief minister’s office said KCR would meet Vijayan at 6 pm on Monday and in view of the Parliament elections both the CMs will discuss on contemporary politics.

However, sources said KCR’s visit to Kerala has nothing to do with his political plans, but it is just for holidaying and pilgrimage.

Reasons: he left for Kerala along with his family members for five days, during which he would visit various temples like Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple, Kanyaka Parameshwari temple at Kanyakumari, Rameswhwaram, Srirangam and Madurai Meenakshi temple. He would also relax in places like Kovalam and Kanyakumari for one day each.

Since the Telangana chief minister is anyway going to Kerala, he will naturally get the official reception from Kerala chief minister, who will host dinner for him. Needless to say, they will discuss the national political scenario.

If KCR really wants to bring the Left parties into the federal front, Kerala is not the right place.

He has to go to Delhi to meet Sitaram Yechury and Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy. Or, he can have a meeting with them in Hyderabad itself, as both of them are Telugu leaders and they regularly come to the state capital.

Since Rameshwaram and Madurai are in Tamil Naidu, KCR will be going to Chennai, where he will meet DMK chief M K Stalin on May 13.

The TRS sources said KCR also got a call from Karnataka chief minister H D Kumar Swamy and after touring Kerala and Tamil Nadu, KCR would visit Karnataka as well.
