Shah throws up hands on early polls!

The Telangana unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is thoroughly disappointed with the attitude of its central leadership which is seeking to pamper the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the state, ignoring its own party workers.

On Friday, when the Telangana BJP leaders had a talk with party president Amit Shah at Rajiv Gandhi international airport at Shamshabad, where they received him on his way to Mantralayam in Kurnool district, he virtually threw up his hands on the issue of early elections.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the green signal to Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. There is nothing the BJP can do if KCR decides to go for early polls. And since everything is being done as per the procedure, the Election Commission also cannot do anything except to follow the rules,” Shah told the state BJP leaders, who are strongly opposing the early elections.

The BJP president told them to be prepared for the early elections. He, however, said there would be no alliance between the TRS and the BJP in the elections. “We have to put up the best fight in the elections,” he told them.

The Telangana BJP leaders are not convinced. They wondered if there was no alliance between the two parties, why the BJP central leadership was showing so much lenience towards the TRS.

“The Prime Minister has given too many appointments to KCR and granted whatever the TRS asked for, including the approval to the Zonal System,” they pointed out.

They reportedly told Shah that if the people believe that the TRS has any understanding with the BJP, the anti-establishment vote would go to the Congress.

But Shah told them that the BJP would not like to antagonise the TRS after the TDP led by N Chandrababu Naidu walked out of NDA.
