Police Harassing Kapu Community

Hyderabad: Taking strong objection to the way the Kapu agitation has been handled by the Chadrababu Naidu government by belittling the spirit of the just demands of the community that has been up in arms for including it in the BC quota, YSRC Congress has said that it extends full support to the fast of Mudragada Padmanabham.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said, "We fully support the hunger strike taken up by Mudraga Padmanaham and his wife at Kirlampudi in East Godavari district and condemn the heavy deployment of police force to foil the indefinite fast of the Kapu leader.

The police have been harassing the Kapu community in Godavari districts with police taking their pictures and threatening them instead of working out a viable solution to include the Kapu community in the reservation list without affecting the BCs.

Chndrababu Naidu has been trying to bring in a split within the Kapu community on one hand and pitting BCs against the Kapus and every effort is being made to foil the indefinite fast," he said and appealed to the Kapu leaders of TDP to work for the uplift of the community.

In 2014 Mahanadu itself Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated that Kapus will be included in the Reservation list and 29 months after the promise there was no outcome which was the reason for the outburst of the community.

TDP Government trying to belittle and scuttle the issue which will bounce back as it is going against the will of the people.

The Chairman who had headed the BC Commission in Karnataka had said that the exercise of including one more caste into the BC list would take six months or even one month. In that case the Manjunath Commission need not take nine months to give is report.

"We demand that the Commission term be reduced to three months, release the Rs 2,000 crore funds for the welfare of the community and take up cordial negotiations with Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham immediately," he said.
