Nandyal voters all set to seal the fate of candidates today

Voters in the Nandyal constituency, who have witnessed a flurry of activity allthese days, are finally ready to seal the fate of the contesting candidates on Wednesday. The polling begins at 7 am and continues till 6 pm.

The officials have shifted the required number of EVMs and the newly-introduced Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machines to every polling booth.

The staff have also been positioned at their respective polling stations on Tuesday evening itself.

All booths in every polling station would have a minimum of 10 staffers to assist the voters in exercising their franchise.

The police have taken special care to keep an eye on the 144 hyper-sensitive and 71 sensitive polling stations.

Additional forces have been posted at the polling stations. The police have also rounded up 107 suspected trouble-makers.

The polling stations are under the watch of the closed circuit cameras, while sensitive areas are under the surveillance of drones.

The police personnel are also carrying body-worn cameras to record the process including the movement of people around the polling stations.

"We have taken every care to ensure free and fair polling," said returning officer V Prasanna Venkatesh.

He further said that the voting is completely secret and the VVPATs too are secure and secret.

"The slips in the VVPAT would not be available for anyone other than the election commission officials," he asserted.
