Naidu Says CBI Probe Will Harm People

Even powers-that-be do not seem to have much faith in the probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This was evident from the comments made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the lands acquired for the new capital of Amaravati.

Speaking at the formal inauguration of his chamber at the under-construction Secretariat block at Velagapudi, which is now part of Amaravati, Naidu said his government would give 50 square yards of land to each of the farmer in the capital region. However, he cautioned that it was the farmers who would have to incur heavy losses if there was even a slightest agitation against the capital.

Naidu recalled the demand of some leaders (read: Jaganmohan Reddy) for a CBI probe into the capital land issue alleging that there was an insider trading in the land acquisition.

“If the CBI starts probing the issue, it will never get resolved even after 20 years. This will ultimately cause a lot of harm to farmers,” he said, adding that his government was committed to the welfare of farmers who had voluntarily given their land for the capital.
