Naidu back to his wily tricks against YSRC

Naidu back to his wily tricks against YSRC

With the nominations process for the Rajya Sabha elections underway, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has once again started his wily tricks to deny the YSR Congress party to win the RS seat this time.

After the defection of 23 MLAs into the ruling Telugu Desam Party, the YSRC is left with 44 MLAs with whom it can win the single RS seat. With its strength, the TDP can win the remaining two RS seats easily.

However, Naidu has been using every trick to lure at least couple of them and field a third candidate for the RS seat. He called for the party politburo to decide on the candidates for Rajya Sabha.

Interestingly, the TDP has not broken its alliance with the BJP and Naidu said his party still continues to be in the NDA with friendly relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is to ensure that the BJP, which has four MLAs in the assembly, would vote for the TDP in the Rajya Sabha elections.

Though the TDP does not require their support for the two seats, it is required if the party has to win a third RS seat.

He might point out that the TDP had earmarked one RS seat to BJP candidate Suresh Prabhu in the last RS elections and hence, the BJP should support the TDP’s third candidate this time.

If he can pull a couple of more MLAs from YSRC by making all promises, the TDP can win the third RS seat as well!
