Jagan Outscores Pawan With Fast Plan!

It is more than two weeks since actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan announced that he might take up fast unto death for achieving special category status for Andhra Pradesh. But so far, he has not taken any steps in that direction.

As if to outsmart Pawan, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy took a quick decision on Saturday and announced that his party MPs would sit on an indefinite fast in New Delhi soon after submitting their resignations from their Lok Sabha membership on the last day of Parliament session.

Addressing a public meeting as part of his marathon padayatra in Guntur, Jagan announced that his party MPs would quit on the last day of the Parliament Session and sit on an indefinite hunger strike at Andhra Bhavan to mount pressure on the Centre to achieve the goal.

“Soon after resigning, our MPs would march to Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi where they would sit on an indefinite fast demanding SCS.

Across the state there would be relay hunger strikes by students at their respective university campus and at all assembly constituency levels by party cadre, youth other sections along with party state leaders,” he said.

He alleged that TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had been very shameless to announce that his MPs would not quit as there should be some representative of his in the Parliament to save his skin.

“The chief minister has been resorting to theatrics which would yield him Oscar Award in the Best anti-hero category,” he said.

A master stroke indeed!
