AP capital city issue needs intensive discussions

The issue of Andhra Pradesh's capital city requires intensive discussions, state Congress said here today.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy said the government must take a final decision only after a thorough discussions with various sections of society from all regions, or else, it would leads to apprehensions.

Reddy advised the state government to convene an all-party meeting before finalising the state capital.

He warned the state government that any "unilateral decision" may lead to differences among people from various regions.

The APCC president said concentration of all establishments at a single place like Hyderabad may create problems and it may also lead to the neglect of backward areas.

Talking about contesting the Nandigama by-election, he said that it would be an opportunity for the people to question the failures of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to implement its election promises, particularly loan waivers to farmers.

He alleged that the TDP has changed its tune about loan waiver.

Earlier, he visited Nandigama assembly constituency to participate in the election campaign.
