Here is another glaring example of a complete U-turn made by KCR after coming to power.
It is a known fact that regarding the strike of the ‘Junior Doctors’ in Hyderabad, KCR had threatened to invoke the ESMA act against them if they failed to report for duty.
For the record, ESMA is an act of Parliament of India which was established to ensure the delivery of certain services, which if obstructed would affect the normal life of the people.
In 2012, when Kiran Kumar Reddy was the CM and the ‘Junior Doctors’ were on their customary strike, the no-nonsense Kiran had threatened to invoke the ESMA against them keeping in mind the untold sufferings caused to the public because of the strike.
Cashing in on the opportunity, KCR immediately rushed to the striking ‘Junior Doctors’ and said, “Kiran should be ashamed of himself for threatening to use the Act. Are we living in democratic set up or British rule? Kiran is saying that he did not care even for the 42 day ‘Sakala Janula Samme, so this strike is nothing. Is this the kind of language which a Chief Minister should be using? ”
