Hyderabad woke up on Friday to the reports of a Youth Congress leader, M Vikram Goud, son of former Andhra Pradesh minister M Mukesh Goud, being shot at by some unknown miscreants at his residence at Gayatri Hills area in Banjara Hills.
The incident happened at around 3.30 am, when the Youth Congress leader was waiting in the hall for his wife Shipali and children to come down from their bedroom located upstairs. They were supposed to go to the nearby temple to perform a puja.
Some miscreants rushed into the hall, fired at Goud and fled the spot. Shipali rushed down into the hall soon after hearing the gunshots only to find her husband lying in a pool of blood.
With the help of the watchman and others, she immediately rushed Goud to Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills.
He sustained bullet injuries on his right shoulder, stomach and spinal cord. The doctors removed three bullets from his body and declared him out of danger.
However, the police who visited the spot, inquired about the incident in their own fashion. The inquiries revealed that nobody had entered the house as nothing was recorded in the CCTV cameras outside the house at that time. The blood stains near the sofa, too, were wiped out clearly by the time police came there.
Apparently, Goud attempted commit suicide by firing at himself in the stomach. A thorough search of his mobile phone data revealed that he was revealing some threatening messages asking him to part with money – Rs 15 lakh, Rs 20 lakh and Rs 35 lakh in different messages.
The phone also has the news reports of the ongoing investigation by the excise department into the drug scam.
And further inquiries revealed that Goud had a share in a pub at Madhapur and he was incurring losses. He was in deep debts so much so that he had even sold out the house given by his father. May be that prompted him to take to extreme step.
Facts would come out only after Vikram Goud regains consciousness and tells the truth to the police.
