'Yes Man' For Naidu's Amaravati Project!

'Yes Man' For Naidu's Amaravati Project!

The appointment of Cherukuru Sridhar as the Commissioner of Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) in Andhra Pradesh in place of senior IAS officer Nagulapalli Srikanth has raised many eyebrows.

Going by his name, it is pretty evident that Sridhar belongs to the same community of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the latter wanted an officer who would protect the interests of his own people in the new capital of Amaravati.

There is a talk that his appointment was opposed by Chief Secretary S P Tucker, since the CRDA requires an experienced officer who should have served the post of at least District Collector. Sridhar was only the joint collector of Guntur before being elevated as the CRDA Commissioner.

The real reason, it is learnt, is that Srikanth had expressed his reservations over the Swiss Challenge method for selection of Singapore consortium as the developer of Amaravati. Even Tucker was not happy with the decision. So, Naidu had to replace with Srikanth with Sridhar, so that the latter would dance to his tunes.

One thing Sridhar has to remember that if he blindly signs the papers as per Naidu’s orders, he might end up like Srilakshmi or B P Acharya, who were caught in CBI cases for following Y S Rajasekhar Reddy orders!
