Will TDP-TRS Join Hands In Telangana?

The comments made by former minister and senior Telangana Telugu Desam Party leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu that his party could have an alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the next elections has triggered a commotion in political circles.

Mothkupalli was answering a question from a television channel reporter on whether there would be an alliance of the TDP-Congress and the Left parties to defeat the TRS in the next elections.

He said the TDP had been a traditional rival of the Congress and had been established on the anti-Congress plank and hence, there was no question of joining hands with it.

“In fact, the TDP should join hands with the TRS or the BJP to fight the elections and keep the Congress at bay,” Mothkupalli said.

“It is time the TDP and the TRS come together for the development both the Telugu states,” he said.

His comments are definitely an embarrassment to the other Telangana TDP leaders, who have been attacking the TRS.

In fact, both Telangana TDP president L Ramana and working president A Revanth Reddy are the bitter critics of the TRS. And they joined hands with the Congress and the Left in the Singareni Collieries trade union elections to defeat the TRS-sponsored union.

So, they might strongly resist his proposal for an alliance with the TRS. However, it all depends on party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who is generally friendly with TRS chief and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Who knows anything might happen in politics!
