Will Naidu Join Third Front Bogey?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is leaving for New Delhi for a two-day trip on Monday night, amidst speculations that he might lobby with other opposition parties for floating an anti-Bharatiya Janata Party political front.

There have been reports in the national media that Naidu is coming to Delhi to discuss with other party leaders to discuss the possibility of the third front.

The reports even said Naidu might take the lead for the proposed front and pitch himself for the Prime Minister’s post in the next elections.

However, the CMO media wing released a statement, quoting Naidu that there was no politics in his Delhi visit and that his entire focus was on securing maximum benefits to the state.

“There is no political significance to my Delhi trip. I have no interest in entering national politics. The purpose of my Delhi visit was to secure interests of five crore people of Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

He said he would meet floor leaders of all the parties in the Parliament and explain the injustice being done to Andhra Pradesh.

“This visit is to put more pressure over the centre to fulfil promises made to AP, including special category status and provisions of AP Reorganisation Act,” he said.

YSR Congress party MP V Vijay Sai Reddy, however, said Naidu was coming to Delhi to look for a new alliance partner, as the TDP had now parted ways with the BJP.
