After a month-long drama and aggression, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu cut off all his links with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance on Friday.
However, there is still a weak link that connects the TDP and the BJP. The link is Parakala Prabhakar, communication advisor to the Chief Minister. How? Parakala happens to be the husband of Union minister for defence Nirmala Sitaraman.
Needless to say Parakala got into the chief minister’s coterie only because of the TDP-BJP alliance through Nirmala link.
In fact, there are many people in the TDP who do not like Parakala in the CMO. They suspect that Parakala might be a BJP mole in the CMO to pass on the secrets of Naidu to the BJP top leadership.
And because of his powerful connections in Delhi, they used to feel Parakala as an extra constitutional authority in the CMO.
Now that Naidu has cut off all his links with the BJP and NDA, a section of leaders in the TDP and even officials are hoping that he might get rid of Parakala as well.
In fact, after the recent crisis in the TDP-BJP relationship, Parakala had been spending most of the time in Hyderabad, rather than in Amaravati.
May be nobody has brought this to Naidu’s notice or Naidu himself did not pay much attention to Parakala. But if it happens, it might not take much time for the chief minister to cut off even Parakala link as well!
