Will Naidu Be Silent Or Aggressive In Delhi?

Will Naidu Be Silent Or Aggressive In Delhi?

After more than two months, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going to New Delhi to participate in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on June 17.

The last time when Naidu visited Delhi was in the first week of April to gather the support of all the political parties for his fight against the Centre on Special Category Status.

It was a big show put-up for Naidu, as he touched the steps of Parliament before entering the Central Hall. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw Naidu, he ignored him, as the latter put up an aggressive posture.

Now, analysts wonder what Naidu would do this time in New Delhi. There are two speculations. Since it is purely an official visit to attend the Niti Aayog meet, the chief minister might confine himself to raising the issues pertaining to the agenda of the meeting and refrain from making any remarks confronting the Centre.

Naidu might even raise the issue of Centre’s failure to accord special category status to the state and implement provisions of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act at the Niti Aayog meeting itself.

Another possibility is that Naidu might resort to staging a dharna along with his party MPs in New Delhi after the meeting in protest against injustice meted out to the state, especially with regard to special category issue, Kadapa steel plant, Visakhapatnam Railway Zone etc.

It is not known whether Naidu will come back to Amaravati on the same day or stay back in New Delhi to meet the central officials concerned to discuss the state issues.
