Why not CBI probe into Naidu assets?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has claimed that he owns assets worth only Rs 40 lakh, which are perhaps lesser than a middle class employee who owns a house. If Naidu’s claim is said to be true, he should be prepared for any inquiry into his assets.

This was the demand put forth by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Party official spokesman K Parthasarathy on Saturday asked the Chief Minister whether he was prepared for a CBI investigation into his assets, particularly his business transactions and properties owned by him in Singapore.

He said Chandrababu Naidu's unusual love for Singapore gives rise to suspicion that he has some personal interests in dealing with that country.

"Why has Chandrababu so much love for Singapore and is involving the country in every aspect in the State, particularly in the capital building," he asked.

It is a known fact that the Chief Minister owns a star hotel in Singapore which was stated to have been acquired during his last tenure.

"Even the most popular newspaper of that country, the Sunday Guardian, has acknowledged this and has recently published a story on Chandrababu owing a hotel in Singapore," Parthasarathi stated.

Observing that the story published in that journal has highlighted that Singapore has turned into a hub for those who are stashing black money, he pointed out that the story had mentioned Chandrababu's name in it.

"If he feels that the published story is wrong, Chandrababu should be peraperd for a probe into his assets by an independent agency like the CBI," he added.
