Telugu Desam Party official spokesman and MLC Y Rajendra Prasad’s outburst against the Telugu film industry for not responding to the people’s agitation demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh has not gone down well with the industry.
The TDP leader blamed the Telugu film industry for sitting pretty in Hyderabad and not bothering about achieving special category status. He pointed out how Tamil film industry responds to people’s issues.
Senior producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja responded sharply saying when the ruling TDP itself was confused about the special category status vis-à-vis special package, how it could expect the film personalities to respond.
He suggested that all political parties come to an understanding on the demand and launch a war against the Centre before asking the film industry.
Film critic Kathi Mahesh, who has been attacking the TDP and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for quite some, launched a counter-attack.
“Why? Already several people have responded on the demand for special category status – right from Pawan Kalyan to Nikhil to Tammareddy to Koratala Siva. So, don’t blame the film industry,” he said.
Not stopping at that, Kathi Mahesh sought to know why TDP MLA and senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna was not making any comment on special category status.
“Where are all those who grabbed film awards under your regime? Where is that director who focuses on the navel? Why is Boyapati Srinu not saying anything?” he asked.
