Why is Revanth upset with Congress?

Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy’s overambitious and impatient attitude is causing a lot of embarrassment to the state Congress leaders.

His latest comments against Telangana Congress leadership and his high-handed attitude in rejecting the party posts led to a lot of debate in the party circles on Wednesday.

“He is just a new comer into the party. It takes time for him to adjust to the party culture. But his comments have certainly disturbed the party which is just getting the momentum for facing the next elections,” a senior party leader observed.

What has really upset Revanth Reddy in the Congress party?

First, he thought he would get a VVIP treatment in the Congress, as he has been the strongest critic of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and its president K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Secondly, during his days in the Telugu Desam Party, he had gathered a lot of information about the corruption and scams in the TRS government. He thought the Congress would make use of his services to step up the attack on the TRS.

And most importantly, he thought he is something special and is not like any other Congress party. So, he thought he would act independently without having to consult the PCC. But, when he proposed to take up padayatra from Mahbubnagar to Adilabad, irrespective of the bus yatra programme of the PCC, the Congress high command did not give him the consent.

Rahul Gandhi apparently told him to follow the PCC programmes and no individual programmes would be allowed.

That is precisely why Revanth started expressing his anguish over the treatment being given to him in the Congress party, though he is of the chief minister material. But the Congress party has a different culture altogether.

“You cannot expect everything according to your own expectations. The Congress party follows certain discipline. You are just a new entrant. Have patience. Don’t claim yourself to be a big leader.

The party will give you due recognition and then the people. You were nowhere during the Telangana movement. So, it is better for you if you remained a disciplined soldier,” Congress MLC P Sudhakar Reddy said.
