Why Is Rajahmundry MP Concerned About Hyderabad?

Usually, public representatives deal with the problems of their constituency. At least they talk of their issues to create an impression that they are concerned about the problems of their voters.

But Rajahmundry MP Murali Mohan is more concerned about an issue regarding Hyderabad more than his own constituency. It is a known fact that Murali Mohan owns a lot of realty in Hyderabad.

So, his latest concern is about the depleting levels of ground water in Hyderabad city. Instead of talking of local problems concerning his voters, he took up issues encumbering national issues and spoke about them at length.

Murali Mohan spoke about various issues such as decrease in levels of ground water, usage of plastic bags, increasing the usage of solar energy, increase in pollution levels, increase in carbon dioxide levels, etc.

Though they are important, many members in Lok Sabha were not interested in his rather time-consuming speech as he sprinkled his speech with a lot of statistics.

He went on to narrate how in the past (maybe at the time he started his real estate ventures) people could hit water at 100 feet. Now, even at a depth of 1500 feet, one is not sure of hitting water levels, he said.

All this was due to lack of planning by various governments after Chandra Babu Naidu’s rule, he alleged. During Babu’s term, rain water harvesting was taken up extensively, but the successive governments could not follow up, he said.

Well, while we understand his concern for environment, we are sure that the people of Rajahmundry will not be very happy with his speech as it revolved mostly about the problems faced by people in Hyderabad, where Murali Mohan has many assets.
