Why Double Standards, Mr Naidu?

Why Double Standards, Mr Naidu?

The manner in which Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister got the issue of his party MP and MLA misbehaving with a senior IPS officer and manhandling his constable has drawn flak from several quarters, including his own party seniors.

Naidu forced his party MP Kesineni Nani and MLA Bonda Uma apologise to Andhra Pradesh State Transport Commissioner N Bala Subramanyam for allegedly misbehaving with him, following a threat by Transport Department employees to go on pen-down strike from Monday.

The MP and the MLA assured that they would not repeat the mistake, but they did not apologise to the gunman of the transport commissioner.

In the normal case, attacking an IPS officer and constable is a serious offence and a case has to be booked against the MP and the MLA. But Naidu settled the issue as if it is a personal dispute between the official and the TDP leaders.

If Jagan also apologises to the doctors and collector in the Nandidama bus case, will Naidu government strike down the case? If somebody murders his rival and tenders an apology, will there be no case?

Well, if cases are settled with just apologies, what for are the police stations and courts, Mr Naidu?
