Why Didn't Naidu Celebrate Hyd Lib Day Officially?

Bodhan MLA and Government Whip Aamir Shakeel has condemned the criticism against TRS Government by the opposition parties over Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations.

Speaking to media persons here, Shakeel said that the opposition parties were trying to politicise the issue by targeting the TRS Government.

Referring to the demands made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Congress president Ponnala Lakshmaiah for the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day, he asked as to what prevented the TDP and Congress from initiating the official celebrations while they were in power.

He said Naidu ruled the State for nine years and never participated in the Liberation Day celebrations. Similarly, the Congress party never thought of conducting official celebrations during its rule from 2004 to 2014.

Shakeel acused the Bharatiya Janata Party of creating a communal divide on the issue of Hyderabad Liberation Day.

He said the BJP is trying to politicise the issue in view of forthcoming elections for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

"Why the BJP did not hoist the national flag on this occasion last year?" he asked.
