Why Can't Centre Dissolve Assembly?

Telugu Desam Party leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday warned the Congress of dire consequences if it went ahead with introducing the Telangana Bill in Parliament disregarding opposition from the Seemandhra people.

The TDP leader said the Congress wanted votes of MLAs in the Rajya Sabha elections but was not considering the views of its MLAs against Telangana Bill.

Somireddy demanded that the Congress-led UPA government dissolve the Assembly if it treats the House as of no consequence.

Alleging that the Congress government was functioning as a dictator with regard to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill 2013, Somireddy accused the Centre of pursuing undemocratic methods.

He alleged that the Centre has thrown the amendments and proposals made by Seemandhra leaders on Bifurcation Bill in the wastepaper basket.

“If the Congress government succeeds in getting the Telangana Bill passed in Parliament, the day will be observed as Black Day and all those who extended support to it will remain as villains in history,” he said.
