Well, it is very difficult to answer this question. It the same question was asked a few years ago, the answer would have definitely been politics. But in the last few years, media has become so corrupt that people have started questioning its credibility.
In the past, politicians used to fear the media, since they were apprehensive that the media would expose their corrupt practices. However, when media started blackmailing politicians to make money in the name of advertisements and paid news, they lost respect on the media.
Now, they are openly resorting to corruption and if the media tries to question them, they are openly questioning the locus standi of the media.
This was openly declared by Telugu Desam Party MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy, brother of Anantapur MP J C Diwakar Reddy.
“Yes, I am a corrupt leader. But who are you to question? Tell me frankly, are you not corrupt? What right do you have to question me?” he asked a channel reporter, who tried to grill him on his corrupt deeds.
He pointed out that the media would question him for corruption, but during the same election season, the same media sought to extract bribe from him.
“For nearly five years, you call me corrupt. But at the time of elections, if I give you Rs 5 lakh, you write stories describing me as Dana Veera Soora Karna. In my view, journalism is the most corrupt profession in the country,” he said.
