Who Did Modi Oblige: Amitabh or KCR?

While the scrapping of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations by the Narendra Modi government with effect from Wednesday has come as a shock and surprise to people across the length and breadth of the country, it seems to have evoked some cheers from two people: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Reason: The Modi government has announced that it would bring in new currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and the colour of the notes is: pink.

Both Amitabh and KCR are rejoiced over the colour choice of the Prime Minister, since it the name of the film in which Amitabh acted and the colour of the party flag for KCR’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Amitabh did not hide his happiness. He immediately tweeted after Modi’s announcement: “The new 2000 Rs note is PINK in colour ... the PINK effect.”

Well, his film was indeed very inspiring to a lot of people, but it may not be the reason for Modi choosing the colour of the nation’s new currency.

However, KCR did not make any such comment, but his followers did not lose time in displaying their happiness in the social media. They thanked Modi for the TRS flag colour for the Rs 2000 note, saying it is an acknowledgement of KCR’s contribution to the nation.
