Where Is Happiness, Mr Naidu?

Where Is Happiness, Mr Naidu?

At a time when the people of entire Andhra Pradesh are seething with anger and hitting the streets with agitations over denial of special category status to the state by the Centre, the conduct of three-day Happy Cities Summit in Amaravati was like adding fuel to the fire.

“This is nothing but insulting the people of the state. It is shameful on the part of Naidu to conduct celebrations in the name of Happy Cities when the people are agitating for special category status to AP,” YSRC MLA R K Roja said.

She wondered how Naidu could claim that 71 per cent of the people were expressing happiness and satisfaction over the implementation of his government schemes.

“Who is happy in Naidu regime - farmers who did not get crop loan waiver completely; students who did not get fee reimbursement, unemployed youth who did not get jobs and Dalits, who did not get a single house?” Roja asked.

She pointed out that when people thought of late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, they remember Rs 2 a kg rice scheme, free power supply to agriculture and fee reimbursement.

“Can Naidu mention a single scheme that has his brand?” she asked.

Alleging that Naidu was holding such meaningless summits only to divert the people’s attention from the Special category status issue, Roja said the TDP chief was equally responsible for the denial of SCS to the state, as he had sailed with the BJP for four years.

“If he is so sincere, instead of questioning the rationale behind the resignations of our party MPs who have been on indefinite fast, he and his party MPs should seek a fresh mandate on the SCS plank,” Roja demanded.
