What Did KCR, Naidu Achieve At Delhi Meeting?

They came, shook hands, exchanged flowers and left after chit-chatting for a couple of hours. This is what a journalist summed up the much-hyped meeting of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao in the presence of Union water resources minister Uma Bharati in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Both the chief ministers were supposed to come to an agreement on sharing of Krishna and Godavari waters besides thrashing out differences on projects being constructed in Krishna basin. Yet, nothing concrete came out of the meeting.

All that the apex council meeting did was to take a decision on installation of telemetry system at the project sites to measure the exact amount of water being drawn by the two states. They also agreed to constitute a joint committee of engineers to study availability of water.

There was no consensus on construction of projects like Palamuru and Dindi projects on the Krishna river by the Telangana government.

The meeting decided that the two chief ministers would meet again to discuss the pending issues.
