Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been facing resistance from unexpected quarters for shifting AP Secretariat from Hyderabad to new capital Amaravati and strangely that is water.
It may be recalled that Naidu had fixed a deadline of June 2 this year for officials and employees working in AP Secretariat in Hyderabad to shift to Amaravati.
He promised to built a temporary Secretariat in Amaravati by June for the purpose.
However, the workers who started construction of temporary Secretariat in Amaravati are failing to make even an inch of progress with water coming out everywhere wherever they are digging up for construction.
The AP government has acquired agriculture lands in 29 villages to build Amaravati. Construction workers who are digging these lands for construction works are shocked to find water just 4 to 5 ft deep from the ground level.
They tried at multiple locations and got the same result. With this, they were forced to stop construction works.
However, this has raised serious questions over how huge buildings could be built in Amaravati in future to construct permanent Secretariat, Assembly, HIgh Court, government offices, hotels, malls, flyover, metro rail etc.
On the other hand, AP officials and employees who are averse to move out of Hyderabad and shift to Amaravati by June are overjoyed with the new development as they hope that temporary Secretariat would not be possible in Amaravati by June and they may be asked to work from Hyderabad for few more months till a solution is found for this water problem.
