Vizag Land Scam: Naidu Shielding Culprits

Vizag Land Scam: Naidu Shielding Culprits

Former minister Konathala Ramakrishna might not be consistent with his political stand as to whether he would go to the Congress, or TDP or return to the YSR Congress party, but he does not mince words when it comes to exposing the corruption in high places.

Though belatedly, Konathala reacted sharply to the sensational Visakhapatnam land scam, which he said, has run into over Rs 20,000 crore.

In a memorandum submitted to the Governor E S L Narasimhan, he said never in the history of the state have lands been swindled without limit by ruling party leaders.

He reminded that TDP minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu himself disclosed that several ministers, legislators, MPs and other senior leaders had colluded with real estate groups and illegally occupied lands.

And Vishakhapatnam District Collector also disclosed to media that land records were tampered in nearly one lakh acres and original records were missing.

“The perpetrators of land scandal used the October 2014 Hudhud cyclone as a cover and with the help of officials and legislators, destroyed and tampered with the land records,” he alleged.

Even after all these the government is simply refusing to act. Basically the government is scared to even look at it. But to show that it has acted it suspended a couple of Tehshildars. When the ACB raided their homes subsequently, hundreds of crores were seized.

The constitution of SIT clearly indicates that the government was shielding the key players of this scandal, particularly Cabinet ministers and ruling party leaders.

Konathala requested the Governor to recommend to the Government of India to institute a CBI Inquiry into this land scandal.
