The Vijayawada Metro Rail project is facing resistance from land owners even before the project was grounded.
The AP government has taken up ambitious Metro Rail project in Vijayawada at a cost of Rs 6770 to solve traffic problems in Vijayawada to provide safe and convenient commute for people.
While the tenders were called recently for the first stage of the project, the government is yet to acquire lands for the project.
On Thursday, several land owners in Nidamanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada took to the streets to protest against the acquisition of lands for Metro Project.
The land owners refused to part with their lands and set up an anti-land acquisition forum to intensify agitations against Metro project by involving owners of other properties and lands, who face similar risk of losing them to the Metro Project.
