Verdict: Early polls in Telangana to benefit TRS!

Verdict: Early polls in Telangana to benefit TRS!

The Telangana is going in for early elections, most probably in November/December along with four other states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram, following the dissolution of the Telangana assembly by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao last week.

Now the battle lines have been drawn, the natural question that would kick up is which party these early polls will benefit.

In an online poll conducted by Greatandhra.com in the last five days, majority of the respondents expressed view that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi would have the advantage in advancing the polls.

Poll: Who will benefit from early polls to Telangana assembly?

Out of 8,062 respondents who took part in the online poll, as many as 4086 people, accounting for 50.68 per cent, felt that the TRS would draw the maximum benefit from the early polls to Telangana assembly.

This is overwhelming and is in tune with the expectations of the TRS, which is also hoping to set a new record by securing more than 50 per cent of the polled votes across the state and winning not less than 100 seats in the 119-member state assembly.

Compared to the TRS, the Congress party is far behind. Only 2,527 respondents, accounting for 31.34 per cent of the total number of participants, said the early elections would bring the Congress party to victory. This is very disappointing for the grand old party and a relief to the TRS, which has been saying that the Congress would only be its distant opposition.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party is the least preferred party even for the netizens. Only 297 people (3.68 per cent) felt that the saffron party can come to power in the elections.

Apparently, the people felt that the BJP is absolutely no force to reckon with in Telangana and what is more, they seem to be endorsing the rumours that it is hand in glove with the TRS.

The remaining 14.29 per cent of the respondents (1152 persons) refused to predict the outcome. They felt that it is too early to say which party would be in advantageous position in the early elections.

These are neutral voters and even if they all vote for the Congress party, the TRS will be still advantageous position!
