Venkayya Naidu's Poor Performance

Venkayya Naidu's Poor Performance

After one year in office, if one were to examine the performance of Central Ministers, Venkayya Naidu fares very poorly as Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

To all questions raised in Parliament, the concerned Minister has to give the answer. Very often, the concerned Minister gives an assurance to the questioner.

The assurance means that : The matter is under consideration, Enquiries are being made, I shall inform the Hon’ble Member, This is primarily the concern of State Government but I shall look into it or  I assure the House all suggestions by Hon’ble Member will be carefully considered.

There is a time frame of three months within which period these assurances are to be delivered on. And the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs has to ensure this. But going by the available data, 81.2% of assurances in the Lok Sabha are pending.

Of 1,298 assurances made, only 241 have been fully implemented, and three have been dropped. The rest are still pending.

From 2009-2014 in the UPA dispensation, there were only 29.4% assurances pending with 3951 implemented out of 5799 and 141 dropped.

The numbers clearly speak for themselves, don’t they? And with four more years to go, it is doubtful whether Venkayya will be able to bridge this gap in the wake of more assurances.
