Strange are the politics in India. Those who are treated as gods and goddesses till the other day will suddenly become devils, while those in the rival group will become saviours.
Take for example, former union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari.
Till recently, she was the most trusted lieutenant of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and a member of Rahul Gandhi’s coterie.
Suddenly, both Sonia and Rahul have become devils for Purandeshwari, for the obvious reason that the Congress party ship is sinking all over the country.
Purandeshwari on Friday called upon the people to defeat the Congress party and exhorted them to vote for BJP if they wanted a handsome package for Seemandhra. This is notwithstanding the fact that the Congress had agreed for the package proposed by BJP in the Parliament.
Purandeshwari vehemently criticized the way they were prevented from going towards the well in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha when bifurcation bill was moved.
Even when we asked the party high command several times as how it would solve the problems of Seemandhra, there was no response, she said.
In the wake of the State bifurcation, there is need to show the strength of Telugu people in the coming elections, she added.
“I told Sonia Gandhi specifically that if the Telangana Bill was passed, she would resign”, she said, adding that BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu sincerely worked for good package for Seemandhra.
Stating that people of Seemandhra have lost faith in the Congress, she urged them to vote for the BJP to get good package for expeditious development of the region.
