Uttam To Face Axe As TPCC Chief?

The Congress high command is said to be contemplating sacking N Uttam Kumar Reddy as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief, in the wake of the party's humiliating defeat in the recent by-elections to Warangal Lok Sabha seat.

The high command, which is at loss why the party had lost deposit and could not retain even the previous voting percentage, is understood to have felt that Uttam had failed to lead the party from the front in the election campaign.

On Sunday, the high command summoned Uttam Kumar Reddy and opposition leaders in the Legislative Assembly and Council K Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir respectively to Delhi to discuss the party position in the State.

The party high command is expected to review with the state leaders on the reasons for the defeat of Warangal by-election.

The high command would also discuss with the party leaders about the GHMC elections and the strategy to be adopted in the MLC elections.

Sources said AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi is keen on replacing Uttam with another suitable leader so as to rejuvenate the cadre.

The Telangana leaders are preparing  to explain to  the high command that the change of candidate in the last minute, loopholes in the campaign and the failure of the party in facing the ruling party have led to the defeat of the candidate, it is learnt.
