Times To Take Over Sakshi?

If speculations doing rounds in media circles are to be believed, Times of India, the largest circulated English daily in the country, is most likely to take over Sakshi Telugu daily promoted by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, at least in Hyderabad.

According to these speculations, the TOI management had negotiations with Jagan and his team to acquire majority of stake in Jagathi Publications. However, the TOI said to be interested in running the daily only in Hyderabad and the Telangana districts. In Coastal Andhra, Jagan will have complete control over Sakshi, since it would be beneficial to him politically in Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.

There were reports recently that Jagan was planning to wind up Sakshi daily in Telangana, because it is neither profitable nor does it help his party politically in this State. Instead, he wants to focus only on Andhra. Against this backdrop, the talk of TOI trying to take over Sakshi daily has gained credence.
