Telugunadu Vs Andhra Pradesh: A History

When state reorganization happened in 1956 a proposal came to call it as Telugu Nadu since Tamil Nadu was there and it will also signify that language based bifurcation has been focused.

But at that time few said Andhra is a Sanskrit word and it is there in old ancient texts so it would give them a regional identity.

Even the north Indians felt Andhra Pradesh sounded better as they connect with Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh etc. so it was decided.

Now, the movement began stating Andhras are different and Telanganites are different. Of course nobody imagined something like this will happen then.

But those who are revisiting history now say if only the state was named Telugunadu then the unity factor would have been there. But the moment they used Andhra problem came up.

Telugunadu would have been strong and there would have been no scope for raising trouble like it happened now.

Even now some are suggesting Telugu Nadu would be the right name for residual Andhra Pradesh as this would avoid any trouble between Seemandhra people.

Let us see what happens.
