TDP Yet To Overcome Cabinet Expansion Blues

At a time everybody thought the disgruntlement in the Telugu Desam Party over the recent cabinet expansion by party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has subsided with his warning and pacifying tactics, the discontent continues to simmer in the party.

In several districts, followers of those who could not get berths in the cabinet and also those who have not taken kindly the induction of their rivals in the cabinet have been expressing their discontent rather openly. On Friday, the growing resentment among the TDP cadres erupted in Kadapa.

At the party coordination committee meeting held at Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, followers of former minister Ramasubba Reddy created ruckus in protest against the induction of his rival C Adinarayana Reddy into the cabinet.

They raised slogans against Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh who conducted the meeting asking him to go back. They also ransacked the furniture and threw chairs at him. With the situation turning serious, Ramesh had to take the help of the police in bringing the situation under control.

In the neigbourng Kurnool district, followers of newly-elected MLC Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy are also protesting against giving cabinet berth to Allagadda MLA Bhuma Akhila Priya.

Now that her father and his bitter rival Bhuma Nagi Reddy is dead, Chakrapani Reddy is trying to gain control over the district politics.

While Akhila is trying for the TDP ticket for her sister in the Nandyal by-election, Chakrapani Reddy is stalling her attempts and desperately trying for the party ticket to his brother Shilpa Mohan Reddy.

Similar internal wars are being witnessed in several constituencies, much to the chagrin of party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
