TDP mobilises man, money, muscle power in Nandyal

The ruling Telugu Desam Party is going all out to win the Nandyal by-elections scheduled to be held on August 23 and is allegedly indulging in blatant misuse of official machinery, besides mobilizing massive man, money and muscle power.

According to YSR Congress party leader Tammineni Sitaram, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu was using all his tricks to distort the democratic process with the single-mindedness and one point agenda of winning the Nandyal by-poll by hook or crook.

“At present, the entire cabinet and a big contingent of MLAs have fanned out in Nandyal and have been involved in nocturnal activity by laying foundation stones without plaques to numerous structures in the name of religion and development works to appease the voters,” he said.

As long as late Bhuma Nagi Reddy was alive, the TDP government had not taken up a single work in Nandyal. But after he switched over to the TDP and subsequently died of heart attack, the ruling party has been showering sops and favours incessantly against the election code of conduct, he said.

“Foundation stones are laid during night times secretly and at times under the patrol of police and construction of places of worship are getting approved and funds are released overnight. Many development schemes have suddenly started sprouting in the Nandyal constituency and the TDP caravan of leaders is roaming across the constituency announcing sops,” he said.

“We have seen the Chief Minister threatening the people from open-top vehicle if they use public utilities and do not vote for TDP and went a step ahead by telling that cases would be foisted against them,” Tammineni alleged.
